The Experience
This is not a train tour. This is an insider’s 4WD expedition into Queensland’s railway history.
Discover a part of Southern Queensland few have ever seen. The 4WD Heritage & Engineering Marvel Expedition is a premium, small-group guided adventure through the spectacular and remote Silverwood Range railway corridor between Warwick and Stanthorpe. Operated by the Southern Downs Steam Railway Association Inc. in joint venture with the private landholder, this exclusive experience provides controlled access to nationally significant 1880 built historical railway engineering works, dramatic escarpments, historic stone and timber bridges and rare infrastructure, normally inaccessible to the public. It allows for same-day return travel from Gold Coast, Brisbane, Toowoomba or Northern NSW.
Sights include: Connolly Dam, impressive Mineral Creek Bridge stone pylons, the Gorge tank and Gorge Dam, Overend Tunnel and mountain top vent, Southern Tunnel Portal and the substantial Cherry Gully Timber Bridge.

Online bookings close 7 days prior to tour departure. Only 12 scheduled departures per year.
$230 per person. No concession pricing. Up to 20 people travel in convoy each departure, and private group bookings are available by arrangement.
FAQ
How long is the expedition?
Approximately 6 hours. Arrival 8:30am for check-in, departure 9:00am, and return approximately 3:00pm.
Where do we meet?
Warwick Railway Station, 1 Brosnan Crescent, Warwick QLD 4370. The tour begins and ends here.
Who can come along?
Any age however there are no children prices.
What should I bring?
A suitable, registered and roadworthy 4WD vehicle, off-road driving experience, your own camp chair, personal drinking water, suitable footwear, a hat and climate and weather-appropriate clothing, and any required personal medications.
How fit do I need to be?
Moderate fitness is needed, there are walks on uneven and sloping ground. The longest walk is 600 metres and return to the Gorge Dam, on a formed gravel road.
